Aromashop atomizer uses either compressed air from a pump mechanism to create a high-velocity airflow through a narrow tube. Its a much advance technology from ultrasonic humidifier that uses high-frequency sound vibrations on a desc to break down water into a fine, cool mist that gets dispersed into the air. Humidifier is a cheaper option but it requires filtered or distilled water to prevent mineral buildup and regular cleaning is necessary to avoid mold growth. Generally life of ultrasonic humidifier is less than 1/10 of an Atomizer. Here is a comparision between the two:
